Recycling

Where possible as much waste that can be physically recycled is done so using a state of the art transfer station. Our recycling rate averages 96%. Once TWS has tipped the waste, it is manually segregated into different waste streams. These are then recycled in various ways. Food waste is shredded and used for RDF & SRF. Glass is blended with inert materials and crushed to make aggregates. Wood is shredded and reused to make chipboard, or it is used for fuel in biomass.

Cardboard is segregated and baled, ready for collection by a reprocessing mill where it is re-cycled back into its original form.

Metal waste is segregated via magnets and taken to an approved reprocessing facility.

Plastic is segregated and collected so that it can be melted down and reused.
